8/20/2023 0 Comments Wersi abacus for sale![]() ![]() So it can be incredibly easy to play on the fly, which is what I did when I reviewed all Orla models. ![]() Their combination presets are instant and, for the most part, very good. When it comes to 2), the Orla has virtually everything up-front, with lots of voice buttons. 1) the combination presets that abacus and seamaster have been discussing or 2) the actual voices - piano, strings or whatever, which some people call presets. When you say 'presets' that can mean two things, and you haven't told us which. My personal preference if you are new to Wersi, (And you are buying used) is go for a model with OAS 7 already installed rather than any earlier version. (OAX and the Pegasus Wing don’t suffer from this inconvenience) ![]() No comparison on the factory pre-sets as while appropriate sounds are selected, you still have to balance everything up to your personal preference and then save it again, whereas all this is done for you on the Orla. ![]() (So check to make sure your VST versions support the earlier software) OAS 7 came out in 2005 with version 7.0 and it still only runs on XP, which a lot of modern VSTs no longer support, plus the on-board host is V1.1 which can also create problems with some of the later VST. (OAX is the new software which also requires completely new hardware, and currently there is no upgrade path for the Abacus, only for the Verona, Vegas, Scala and Louvre) So long as it is a dual core Athlon it should be fine however the OAS 7 upgrade is combination of hardware (Replacement of the internal DSP cards) as well as the software, and it is the hardware that is in short supply as it is no longer made.Īnother point to take into consideration is that production of OAS instruments ceased last year, so while they will still be supported, there will not be any more updates. How would you say the preset sounds on OAS 7 compare to the Orla Compact Theatre? Not sure if you've heard one? Sounds like the Wersi might be a perfect bridge between a traditional organ and a studio recording environment which I was previously relying on a laptop, VSTi's and MIDI controller keyboard for? I also dabble with home studio recording and was using a laptop with a bunch of VSTi instruments and a sequencer, HDD recorder, etc. However, the Abacus also sounds great and I do like the idea of being able to install VSTi instruments and integrating them with the rest of the organ. I do like the immediate playability of the Orla and the presets do sound very good on the YouTube videos I've watched. Sounds like that might be the better buy and it's a similar price. I've got my eye on another Abacus that has the original screen, but is running OAS 7.47 and has a couple of sound packs activated also. Yes, that's one of the Abacus's I had my eye on and the seller has also confirmed it's running OAS 5, but the CPU has been upgraded to a 2.6GHz Athlon 圆4 and it's got 4GB RAM installed. Hope this helps, however if you need any further information just ask. NOTE: if it is the one currently on eBay (Located in Rotherham) then the screenshots show it running OAS5 which is quite old (2003) with little possible of upgrading further as the hardware required to allow it to run OAS7.1 R47 (The latest version) is in short supply, also the screen he has fitted will obscure any music you place on the music rest. The good news is that it comes with speakers and amplifiers located each side of the music rest and underneath the keyboard. Things to remember with an Abacus are that it was constantly being updated with new features and sounds over its lifetime (A number of which you had to pay for) so check to see what the Abacus has on-board in the activation section. It depends what you are looking for, if you want something that sounds nice OOTB with a boatload of pre-sets with a leaning towards theatre organ sounds, then the Orla will probably be the better, however if you want flexibility to make the instrument your own, combined with being able to load 3rd party sounds, the Wersi is the way to go. ![]()
